Second Station: Jesus receives his Cross So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own Cross, to the place called the place of a skull. (John 19,16) “Surely he has born our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaia 53, 4-5) And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny hiumself and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it.” (Luke 9, 23-24) |
